Kadapa: Challenges and counter challenges between YSRCP and TDP leaders on who did what for Pulivendula led to stone pelting forcing the police to resort to lathi charge and had to open fire in air. Somel activists of TDP and a policeman were injured in the stone pelting at Poola Angalla centre (Flower market centre). As the situation had become tense, all business establishments downed the shutters and police imposed section 144.

District police superintendent Babujee Attada who rushed to Pulivendula in the evening took charge of the situation and went round the town asking people not to move out of their houses.

It all began with former TDP MLC Venkata Satish Kumar Reddy on February 28 claiming that Pulivendula was developing at a fast pace under TDP regime. He said though the former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy was from Pulivendula, he did not develop it as he should have. He said he was ready for a debate on the issue. Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy accepted the challenge and both leaders decided to have a debate on Sunday at Poola Angalla centre. Since Pulivendula is the strong hold of YSRCP, cadres in large number started arriving at the venue. Even TDP activists came to the party office located in the area. There were heated arguments and this was followed by stone pelting.
