Minister warns con paddy traders
Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy warned that stern action would be taken against the persons who procure paddy at less than MSP fixed
Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy warned that stern action would be taken against the persons who procure paddy at less than MSP fixed by the government. He held a review meeting with the district officials and leaders of farmers’ associations at R& B guest house in the city on Sunday.
Speaking to the media persons later, Somireddy has said that they were expecting 30 lakh Puttis (Putti is equivalent to 850 kgs) of paddy during this season across the district. ‘Farmers in the district had made use of available water, cultivated paddy and achieved better yields. Though there are was no adequate rainfall, we had brought 21 tmc feet of water from Srisailam reservoir,’ said the Agriculture Minister.
The Minister also assured that they would discuss with the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for providing Rs.250 per quintal additional bonus to the farmers who cultivate Nellore fine variety of rice. He also warned that they would take severe action against the middlemen, millers and other people who create troubles to the farmers.
Further, Minister handed over paddy cutting machines to a Rythu Mitra group in Pidurupalem in Manubolu mandal. He interacted with the farmers on water levels in the area.
