Kakinada: Safety and security are important in any industry and in every one’s life, said minister for labour and employment Pithani Satyanarayana here on Sunday. Participating as chief guest at the 47th National Security Day celebrations in JNTU Alumni Auditorium, the minister reiterated that the government was committed to the labour welfare and was paying Rs 5 lakh if any labourer dies accidentally in the industries.

Stating that there were 2,519 industries in the district, he said they were providing employment to 77,747 workers as per the records. The minister stated the government was encouraging industrialists through single window system to set up the industries in the state.

Kakinada Rural MLA Anantha Lakshmi and State Industries Director Bala Kishore also spoke in the meeting. Later the minister awarded certificates and prizes to school children who won in the competitions held on topic industrial safety. Factories inspector Siva Kumar Reddy, Apollo CEO Dr Sandip and International Papers owner Sura Reddy participated.
