Tirupati: AP Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA) decided to go on strike from Tuesday as none of their demands were fulfilled by the government though the Director of Medical Education (DME) had given them a time frame assurance in February.

They were demanding immediate clearance of stipend arrears to interns and PGs for 2016 and 2017 and honorarium arrears to senior residents for 2017 with interest. Immediate review or revision of stipend and honorarium from 2018 was another demand. The other demands include issuing of degrees and acceptance for registration of MBBS/PG degrees immediately after course completion.

They have given a strike call from February 14 but withdrew it after getting an assurance from DME. As no money was credited to their accounts and in the absence of any response from DME, they have decided to go on strike from Tuesday.

They will boycott their elective duties from March 6 and will call for boycotting emergencies also from March 9 if the demands were not fulfilled by that time, said the President of APJUDA Dr M Venkata Ramana in a press release.
