Nellore: District Collector R Mutyala Raju warned that they would take action against officials, who failed to reach targets in the housing programmes.

He reviewed with officials of the Housing department at Gudur RDO’s office on Tuesday and said that the government had sanctioned 1,175 houses under NTR Rural Housing Scheme to Gudur municipality. He directed the authorities to prepare list of beneficiaries before March 14.

The Collector expressed annoyance over the officials for not completing construction of 423 houses out of 1,507 sanctioned for Venkatagiri town. He instructed the authorities to finish housing under NTR rural housing and also PMAY schemes immediately. Gudur RDO P Arun Babu, Housing Project Director P Ramachandra Reddy and others were present.

Further, the Collector inspected the control unit to store ballot boxes at the RDO’s office in Nellore. He said that according to the guidelines there is a need to check condition of the strong room every year.

The Collector said that that they would construct new building for preserving ballot boxes with Rs 2.16 crore in the city. Mutyala Raju said that they had identified 7,064 duplicate votes and explained that they would take a decision on them after booth level officers conducting an enquiry after visiting the concerned houses personally.

He also said that they would prepare the final list on March 15 and release it on March 24. A special drive would be conducted if necessary, he added. DRO V Venkata Subbaiah, RDO D Haritha and other officials were present.
