Rythanga Ikya Vedika organised a round-table conference with leaders of AP Rytu Sangam, AP Kaulu Rythu Sangham and various farmers’ associations at D Chennamma Smaraka Bhavan in the city here on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media persons, Rythanga Ikya Vedika district convener P Sriramulu demanded the BJP-led NDA government to implement 2011 Tenant Farmers Act.

He said that 75 per cent of the agriculture activities in the district are being carried out by tenant farmers. “Tenant farmers take loans from private financiers at high rate of interest, buy fertilizers and pesticides. But, they are not getting better prices till now,” lamented Sriramulu.

He alleged that 40,000 farmers in the country had committed suicide after BJP came to power. Rythanga Ikya Vedika leader also said that both central and state governments have failed to provide loans to the farmers on time.
