Undertrial prisoner dies at hospital
An undertrial prisoner died while undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital here on Tuesday. According to sources, Besipogu Maria Babu was a prisoner at the Central Jail in Rajamahendravaram.
Kakinada: An undertrial prisoner died while undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital here on Tuesday. According to sources, Besipogu Maria Babu was a prisoner at the Central Jail in Rajamahendravaram.
During the last week of February, Maria Babu told the jail authorities that he was suffering from severe stomach ache. After initial treatment, the jail authorities admitted Maria Babu to the GGH. He underwent a minor surgery at the hospital on February 23.
He died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Tuesday. Prisoner’s wife Lakshmi alleged that her husband died due to the negligence of the jail authorities and GGH staff. She wrote a letter to the jail superintendent. The undertrial was a native of Bodepudivari Palem of Guntur district.
