Vijayawada: Bravery awards were given to women, who could overcome various hardships in society as a sole bread winner, lonely women, who had guided their children to climb success ladder and many women police personnel, who had ensured the depressed women to recover from trauma.
City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang gave bravery awards to those women for their bravery to mark the International Women's Day at the Commissioner’s Office here on Wednesday.
The Commissioner said that with the help of NGOs Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM) and other organisations, along with Mahila Mitra coordinators, have done outstanding job to ensure and create awareness among women who were facing hardships and problems in society.
Bravery awards were given to dancer Ambika, Uppalapati Sunila for her outstanding work against call money racket, Marga Foundation founder A Lakshmi for giving free education to 150 students, Dr D Anitha sole bread winner who lost her husband 15 years ago, B Krishna Kumari, K Mariyamma, Surapalli Durga and Choragudi Kavitha.
Best Counsellors: VMM counsellors Vemuri Satyavathi, Kankanala Vijaya and Kelly Pushpa, N Malathi, Bade Durgadevi, Narishetty Shanti and K Rani. Mahila Mitra best members: Bandi Lakshmi of Bhavanipuram Police Station, A Nagamalleswari of Vuyyuru, Ajmeer Chayadevi of Nunna, T Sulochana of Krishna Lanka and B Anjali of Penamaluru.
