Tirupati: Leaders of the Andhra Pradesh AbhivrudhiPorataSamithi (AAPS) performed milk bath to Telugu Talli statue near RTC bus stand, demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to the state.

AAPS state president N Raja Reddy said that, after bifurcation, state was left with more than Rs16,000 crore revenue deficit. He demandedthat theBJP-led NDA government should fulfil their promise by granting SCS to the state immediately.

BJP was also a party to the bifurcation along with Congress and it was their duty to fulfil the promises made by the UPA government. He said that it was not correct to say that hereafter no state will be given SCS. Even, the allocations to educational institutions were meagre, he criticised.

TDP leader Dr KoduruBalasubramanyam said, though the BJP government assured to fulfil all promises before elections, they did not even adjust the revenue deficit and the people will give the party a similar treatment which was given to Congress during 2014 elections.
