Akiveedu: Police exhumed the body that was buried in May last year at Velivarru village in Undi manal on Wednesday based on a complaint lodged by the wife of the deceased.

According to police, Ganta Salmon Raju died under suspicious circumstances at fish pond in Velivarru village on May 5, 2017. The owners of the fish pond Pothuru Venkateswara Raju (Buddiyya), his brother Krishnamraju told the family members of Salmon that he fell into the fish pond in an inebriated condition and died.

However, wife Alisamma alleged that the owners did not inform about it and buried him there. She alleged that her husband’s death is not accidental and it is a murder. She reached the tahsil office in Undi on Wednesday and launched a hunger strike led by SC and ST Cell.

On receiving information, police the spot and collected details from her. The SC-ST Cell leaders alleged that the accused were TDP leaders, hence, no action was initiated against them.

Narsapur DSP T Prabhakara Babu, Rural CI Nagaraju and SI Varma reached Velivarru village and exhumed the body in the presence of doctors. Doctors collected the skeletal remains of Salmon Raju and sending for forensic report.

DSP T Prabhakara Babu told the family members and media that after getting the report, legal action would be initiated against the guilty. The SC-ST Associations warned that if no action was initiated in this regard, they will intensify their agitation.
