About 500 barbers participated in the session. A HRD expert Raghottama Rao from SVETA in his address said, majority of pilgrims visit barbers first before paying visit to Lord to fulfil their wish of offering hairs as a mark of total surrender. Rao stated that the Lord has given barbers an opportunity and hence it becomes the noble responsibility of all you to serve the pilgrims with utmost affection, who has offered his or head for tonsuring with lot of credibility on you.

“If you say some good words, that will not only boost the image of you but also the institution. The pilgrim will happily propagate the warmth which you have shown to him when he goes back to his native place,” he said.

Another expert C Siva Kumar said, it is easy to earn money but difficult to earn good name. “Be a role model to others with your good deeds,” he added. Later, he has given power point presentation on behaviour pattern, communication skills with pilgrims and enlightened the barbers.

Health Officer Dr Sermista informed the barbers about the precautionary measures to be taken during tonsuring. "If the pilgrim is suffering from skin allergies, always wear hand gloves and masks while doing tonsuring activity. Use hyper solution, dettol to clean your hands and maintain hygiene,” she added.

The officer also said, the barbers are already administered Hepatitis B vaccine as a preventive measure. Earlier, Deputy EO KKC Nagaratna said, the two days orientation programme for barbers is mulled aimed at extracting more transparent services from them. AVSO Chiranjeevulu, AEO KKC Bhaskar, and office staff of Kalyanakatta were also present.
