Diarrhoea on a rampage in Guntur

Diarrhoea is stalking Guntur city. Hundreds of people from Patha Guntur, Anandapet, Sangadikunta, Chinnabazar, Chotra Centre, Lanchester Road, Balaji Nagar and other areas are getting admitted to the hospitals for the last six days.

The ailment has also spread to the western part of the city. Over a 1000 are in the hospital and as many as 10 have died due to diarrhea. On Thursday alone, as many as 56 persons were registered in the Outpatient wing and 36 in the inpatient wing. A special ward has been set up in the Guntur Government Hospital. The authorities have taken steps to deploy adequate number of doctors and medical staff to ensure that the situation is brought under control.

State women commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari has called on the patients on Friday and enquired about their health. She also interacted with the doctors and other officials at the hospital.
