Visakhapatnam rural police arrested four militia members of the Pedabayalu Area Committee of banned CPI (Maoist) at Paderu in the agency on Saturday. The arrested were identified as V Maleswara Rao, V Venkata Rao, Killo Chinna Rao and Chikudu Rambabu, all natives of Pedabyalu mandal in Vizag Agency.

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam rural police arrested four militia members of the Pedabayalu Area Committee of banned CPI (Maoist) at Paderu in the agency on Saturday. The arrested were identified as V Maleswara Rao, V Venkata Rao, Killo Chinna Rao and Chikudu Rambabu, all natives of Pedabyalu mandal in Vizag Agency.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Paderu Amit Burdar said that four militia members underwent training in placing landmines to eliminate the security forces and political leaders.

During the investigation, the arrested ultras have confessed that they had involved in over 10 crimes, including killing of B Balakrishna in 2014 and murder of V Satya Rao in 2017 by branding them as police informers.

The police said that besides killing of innocents in the name of police informers, the four militia members were also involved in setting fire to road laying machinery equipment at various places in the agency.

The ASP warned the Maoists and militia members not to obstruct the development works in the remote areas and advised them to stop the violence and join the mainstream by surrendering before the police.
