Prosecutors, police told to update knowledge in using technologies

Vijayawada: Principal Secretary (Home) A R Anuradha appealed to the public prosecutors and the police to reform criminals to make them good citizens in the society. Inaugurating the State-level workshop on ‘Emerging Legal Trends’ here on Saturday, she asked the officials to improve knowledge on changing trends in technology usage.The workshop would be useful for upgrading the knowledge, she said.

The prosecutors should keenly study the guidelines and judgements of High Courts and the Supreme Court. The public prosecutors should know the new changes after the State bifurcation, she said.

She also said that the police and prosecutors have the responsibility to curtail crime in the society. The criminals should be punished, she said and added that innocent people should be given protection. The criminals should not get a feeling that can roam freely if they commit crimes and they should be punished for committing crimes, she said. She asked the officials to be vigilant and watch the movement of criminals continuously to bring down the crime rate.

The Principal Secretary pointed out that adulteration was high in ghee, tea powder and medicines. She asked the officials to punish criminals by utilising the latest technology. The people would get confidence if the criminals are punished, she said and added that the prosecution would also get due recognition.

Joint Police Commissioner, Vijayawada city, Kanthi Rana Tata said that the inquiry officials should have awareness on Section 41 of CrPC. The criminals would be punished when the officials have knowledge on laws, he reiterated.

Additional Director of Prosecutions B Ramakoteswara Rao, Joint Director of Prosecutions V Raghuram and 175 public prosecutors from 13 districts attended the meeting.
