Madakasira: PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy has said that the Congress leaders have staged protests in Delhi against the Centre to protect the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh with regard to special category status.

UPA-led by Congress is the only alternative to NDA and there is no room for third front, the APCC president says

Addressing media here on Saturday, Raghuveera Reddy said that Rahul Gandhi will affix his signature on the first file as Prime Minister pertaining to special status to AP upon UPA government coming to power at the Center after the 2019 elections.

All-India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi visiting the APCC protest camp was a significant event, Raghuveera said.

``For the first time in the history of the country, a cheating case was filed against PM and AP CM at the Parliament Street police station. Quoting the rule number 16A, a complaint was lodged with the Election Commission seeking annulment of BJP and TDP charging them with adopting dilly-dallying tactics in implementing the special status to AP and States’ Reorganisation Act, 2014,’’ the APCC president stated.

With Rahul Gandhi making a specific statement on special status to AP, the TDP fortress developed chinks, he said.

He dubbed the TDP pulling out of the NDA as a resignation drama not sincere intention. He called upon all political outfits to work shoulder to shoulder before the April 5 deadline and felt that any sacrifice made after the deadline would prove futile.

Referring to KCR’s proposed third front, he said the alternative to the NDA is UPA headed by Congress and felt that there was no room for the third front. He exuded confidence over Cong coming to power at the Center trouncing the BJP. He described the state budget presented by Finance Minister YanamalaRamakrishnudu recently as a frantic effort by the TDP to keep its flock together.

The legislation on the BC sub-plan on the lines of the SC and ST Sub-Plan, allocating Rs 10,000 crore annually did not see the light at the end of the tunnel even four years after the TDP coming to power, he added.
