Visakhapatnam: The International Women’s Day was celebrated at GITAM Deemed University here on Thursday with enthusiasm. Noted IT Company Accenture organised a special programme to motivate the students.

Inaugurating the programme, GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao said women education is a key factor in their empowerment and their workforce is increasing in the IT sector during the past decade.

Accenture officials said they are focussing to achieve gender balance in their firm by 2020. GITAM Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivaramakrishna, Registrar Prof M Potharaju, GITAM Institute of Technology Principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad participated.

At a programme of the GITAM School of Law, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Secretary Damodara Rao, who was the chief guest, traced the origin of International Women's Day.
