Vijayawada: A bicycle rally was organised by the members of Indian Medical Association (IMA) under the supervision of IMA secretary Rasik Sanghvi here on Sunday.
About 100 doctors participated in the rally which started from IMA Hall to Sub-Collector office and back to IMA Hall. Addressing the media persons, Dr Sanghvi said that the rally was organised for awareness among people on pollution.

He explained that the members of the association were strongly opposing the National Medical Council (NMC) Bill. He said there were no doctors in the executive body of NMC and only bureaucrats and politicians were the members of the body. The doctors were restricted to only advisory committee which meets once in a year.

He said new colleges would get permission through the executive body and the college management can collect fees as they wish. As a result, medical education would be restricted only to wealthy people, he added.IMA president Dr Bose, Dr Ramprasad, Dr CS Prasad, Dr Subba Rao and others participated in the rally.
