Veteran cine actor Vankayala Satyanarayana (78), popularly known as Vankayala, passed away here on Monday. Vankayala, who was suffering from respiratory disorders for the past several months, died while undergoing treatment. The body was shifted to his home located at the Government Circuit Guest House.
Visakhapatnam: Veteran cine actor Vankayala Satyanarayana (78), popularly known as Vankayala, passed away here on Monday. Vankayala, who was suffering from respiratory disorders for the past several months, died while undergoing treatment. The body was shifted to his home located at the Government Circuit Guest House.
Vankayala was born in 1940 in Visakhapatnam. He acted in over 180 Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films as character actor. He also acted in several Telugu TV serials. Vankayala Satyanarayana began his cinematic career with “Needaleni Aadadi” and rose to fame in the role of Station Master in “Seethamaalaxmi”.
Apart from his cine career he was also a good sportsman. He stood first in “L Roberts International Shooting Competition” in India and stood second place in the World. He also worked in Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL). Veteran actors and Visakha cultural artistes paid rich tributes to the departed soul.
Vankayala Satyanarayana Murty’s is survived by wife and two sons. His brother Vankayala Tataji is former chairman of Sri Kanakamahalakshmi Devasthanam. Only recently he had conducted a programme titled Guna Nidhi at Kala Bharathi auditorium for encouraging local artistes. The final rites were performed at Hindu Kailasa Bhoomi in Vizag.
