Tirupati: The District Education Department has geared up well for the SSC public examinations to be held from March 15 to 29. This year 54,505 students have registered to take the examinations in the district out of which 51,927 were regular students and the remaining were private candidates.

In an exclusive interview to The Hans India, District Educational Officer (DEO) Dr K Panduranga Swamy explained the preparedness of the department to conduct the examinations in a peaceful and fair manner. He said that 264 examination centres have been constituted in 93 zones among which 68 centres were C category centres where there will be no police station nearby.

As five centres have been identified as problematic centres special attention will be laid on them. To avoid malpractices in examination centres, 14 flying squads were arranged. Each squad will have three members drawn one each from education, revenue and police departments.

The examinations will be supervised by 264 Chief Superintendents and same number of departmental officers. There will be a reserve staff of 5 per cent. DEO Dr Swamy made it clear that all steps were taken to provide adequate furniture and no students have to write examination sitting on floor.
