Firemen play vital role in society, says Director General of Fire Services
The Director General of Fire Services (DGFS) K Sathyanarayana has said that the firemen are playing key role in the society, from extinguishing fires to handling road and train accident victims.

The DGFS addressed a programme organised on the training programme to the fire men at APSP Function hall here on Monday. Regional Fire Officer Murali Mohan, District Fire Officer M Bhupal Reddy and Assistant District Fire Officer Jayanna were also present.
The Director General has said that the services of firemen are not restricted only to extinguishing the fires. Their services are used in times of natural disasters, floods, watery grave incidents, and road and train accidents. Citing a bore well incident that took place in Srikakulam, the DG said that firemen had rescued a girl child who had fallen in an open borewell.
Recalling the undaunted services of firemen, he said that firemen retrieved several dead bodies who met with watery grave when a boat in which they were travelling had capsized in the river. They are even rescuing the persons who try to commit suicide after plunging from the cell towers.
Sathyanarayana has said that Andhra Pradesh Fire department has drawn the attention of Government of India for its excellent service in coping with the fire mishaps.
The firemen of AP have stood inspiration to many states across the country and the government of Rajasthan had sent their men to learn about the training being taught here. Speaking about the shortage of fire tenders, he said around 18 new fire tenders have been sanctioned and are likely to receive in a day or two. They would be allocated where its necessity is needed, he added.
He assured that he will try to resolve the issue with regard to promotions of firemen. He also assured of replacing the existing uniform with new one that would be a fire resistant and will give an identity to their service. There is no retirement to fire men.
Several private firms are hiring the healthy fire men. He asked the officials to conduct awareness camps about the domestic fire mishaps that take place from the LPG cylinders. The DG also distributed glasses to the firemen to enable them to protect their eyes.
District Fire Officer of Kadapa, Anantapur, Srinivasa Rao, Sathyanarayana, Andhra Pradesh Special Police Commandant, Basha, Vice-President of training center G Ramana and training cadets of 13 districts took part in the programme.
