According to police, P Nagarathnam alias Sattemma, was living alone after her husband\'s death 20 years ago at Pallapur village.
Eluru: An elderly woman was brutally murdered by her nephew at Pallapur village in Unguturu mandal in the district on Saturday, according to delayed reports, reaching here on Monday. According to police, P Nagarathnam alias Sattemma, was living alone after her husband's death 20 years ago at Pallapur village.
She had no children, but treated her brother-in-law Chinaraghavulu’s son Satyanarayana, her nephew, as her own son. However, Satyanarayana cultivated bad habits and started harassing Nagaratnam to give him half-acre-of her farm land and her pension money. On Saturday night, Satyanarayana in a drunken state, went to her house and started quarrelling with her.
Under the influence of the liquor, he beat her up on the head inflicting fatal injuries. The incident came to light on Monday. Eluru DSP K Eshwara Rao and Ganapavaram Sub-Inspector G Srinivas Yadav rushed to the village and inspected the place where the incident took place. Later, they sent the body of Nagaratnam for post-mortem to Tadepalligudem Government Hospital. The SI said that a manhunt was launched for the accused.
