Non-local teachers demand transfer to their native state
As many as 445 teachers of Andhra Pradesh are working in Telangana state and 200 teachers of Telangana are working in AP.
Vijayawada: As many as 445 teachers of Andhra Pradesh are working in Telangana state and 200 teachers of Telangana are working in AP. The teachers have been requesting both the state governments to transfer them back to their native places on mutual consent, said Non-Local Teachers Association (NLTA) general secretary V Suryanarayana here on Monday. In this regard, the teachers of both the Telugu-speaking states called for a two day agitation at Dharna Chowk here on Monday.
He said that the top 20 rankers of several DSC examinations before bifurcation were appointed in various districts as teachers under the Non-Local Reservation of 20 per cent. After bifurcation of the state, these teachers were not sent to their native place.
He said that it was pathetic that for the last four years they had been suffering with wives and husbands working in a different places. With hectic schedule, they cannot see each other even at long weekends. A teacher, Padmaja Reddy, pleaded with the governments to take a decision on their issue at the earliest.
She said she works as a teacher in Telangana whereas her husband and family stays in Andhra Pradesh. She requested the authorities to transfer her to native place as soon as possible. NLTA president M Mohan Rao said that most of the employees are facing problem with the reservation issues as some OC castes are treated as BCs and vice versa, he said.
