Eluru: Property worth Rs 35 lakh gutted in a fire mishap at a branch of Shriram Chits in Tanuku on Monday. According to fire officials, the neighbours, who saw the flames from the building immediately informed the police.
The firefighters reached the spot and controlled the flames that engulfed the building. In the fire mishap, valuable records, furniture, and computers were burnt to ashes. However, the gold ornaments belong to 218 customers worth Rs 1.5 crore was safe along with cash as they were kept in the strong room.
The fire officials are suspecting short circuit might be the reason for the fire mishap. Branch Manager M Ramesh registered a complaint with fire officials.
