Nellore: The launch of communications satellite GSAT-6 on-board GSLV-F08 is slated to be launched on March 29. The satellite with a lift off mass of 2,140 kg is designed for 10 years for future satellite based mobile communication applications.

It is a high-power S-band communication satellite configured around I-2K bus and will provide a platform for developing technologies such as demonstration of 6 m S-band un-furlable antenna, handheld ground terminals and network management techniques that could be useful in future satellite based mobile communication applications.

Third phase of cryogenic stage has been completed a couple of days ago at SHAR and the team of scientists are conducting tests for any other possible problems encounter during the injection. Sources said the rocket would be launched in the evening hours of March 29 after completing all pre-launching formalities.
