Two held for student’s murder

Mydukuru: Police arrested two persons on charges of murdering a degree student Yannam Vijaya Kumar of K Buddayapalle village of Khajipet mandal. The incident occurred on March 10.

The accused were identified as Somu Sambasiva Reddy (27) and Duvvuru Maheswara Reddy (34), both belonging to Pera Reddy Kottalu village of Khajipet mandal. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, DSP B Srinivaluru said that Y Vijaya Kumar was studying first year degree at Sahitya Degree College in Mydukuru town.

A relative of the arrested persons, S Tanusha, is also studying in the same college. Vijayakumar reportedly was in one side love with Tanusha and was harassing her with demanding her to accept his love. The girl brought the issue to the notice of the accused recently and they warned Vijaya Kumar not to pester her in the name of love.

Despite warning, on the night of March 10, Vijaya Kumar went to the house of Tanusha jumping the compound wall of the house. Sambasiva Reddy noticed him while jumping the wall and attacked him with a stick. Vijaya Kumar received severe head injury and died immediately.

Later, Samba Siva Reddy, with the help of Maheswara Reddy, placed the body on the rail track near Gangayapalle to portray the death as suicide. Following a complaint lodged by the parents of Vijaya Kumar, police registered a case. They arrested the accused during the inspection of vehicles on NH 40 in the early hours of Thursday.
