Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana has directed the officials of the Rural Water Supply (RWS) department to initiate measures for mitigating drinking water woes in the villages. He advised them not to repeat the same mistakes in the summer which they did in the past. He held a review a meeting with the RWS officials on drinking water and open defecation free issues at the Collectorate here on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, the Collector said that no village in the district should face drinking water shortage. He instructed the officials to utilise the available funds for resolving the water crisis. He asked the Assistant Engineer to visit Pathikonda and submit a report of inspection of RO plant that was constructed under Sujalam-Suphalam scheme.

He informed officials to use the Assembly funds for repair works. The Collector suggested the officials to supply water through tankers for the villages facing acute water shortage and to record the trips online. He stated 1.51 tmcft water is available in Gajuladinne Project and 0.81 tmcft in Sunkesula barrage.

He ordered the Municipal Commissioner and Irrigation Department’s Superintending Engineer to discuss with the TB Dam officials on rightful water share to Low Level Canal besides misuse of water. RWS Superintending Engineer Hari Babu, Zilla Parishad CEO Pratap Reddy, Corporation Commissioner Dr CB Harinath Reddy and other officials were present.
