Left, Samiti to intensify agitation for Special Category Status
The opposition parties under the banner of Pratyeka Hoda, Vibhajana Hameela Sadhana Samiti on Monday decided to intensify agitation, including blocking of highways and take it to the grass-root level till the state gets Special Category Status. The leaders decided to chalk out action plan soon in this regard.

Leaders of the CPI, CPM, AAP, Jana Sena, civil society organisation, students and youth organisations, MLCs and others participated in the round-table organised at a hotel here on Monday.
The CPI and CPM state secretaries, Hoda, Vibhajana Hameela Sadhana Samiti president Chalasani Srinivas, Congress senior leader N Tulasi Reddy, film actor K Sivaji, Uttarandhra Charcha Vedika president Konatala Ramakrishna and others spoke on the occasion.
They have decided to intensify the agitation and take it to the grass-root level, block the national highways and stage rasta roko on March 22 between 10am to 12 noon. They also planned to halt the trains in the state to put pressure on the Union government to concede the demands of the Telugu people.
Chalasani Srinivas blamed that the BJP is the first culprit and the TDP is the second for not getting the Special Category Status to the state. He said the fight for the SCS and fulfilling the assurances made in the AP Reorganisation Act reached a decisive and final stage.
Many leaders in Anantapur and Prakasam districts were arrested for demanding the SCS and added that the TDP government is resorting to repressive policies and would pay the price. He cautioned the people of AP not to underestimate the North Indian political party the BJP and they would do any type of politics to gain power.
He said the Telugu people are very brave and staged dharna in front of the house of PM Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah in Delhi for the SCS. CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna appealed to the Left parties, AAP, Jana Sena and Congress to intensify the agitation for the SCS. He said there is a need to publish the books and distribute to the people explaining how the BJP and TDP betrayed the people of AP.
CPM state secretary P Madhu said all national highways and railway stations will be blocked in the state as part of the agitation for the SCS.
He said the fight for the SCS reached the last stage. He explained how the state had suffered losses as it was not granted SCS.
PCC vice-president N Tulasi Reddy, Konatala Ramakrishna and leaders of AAP, Jana Sena, MLCs Boddu Nageswara Rao, Katti Narasimha Reddy, former MLC K Lakshmana Rao and others spoke on the occasion.
