Postal cover on Stephen Hawking released
A special postal cover was released in memory of noted physicist Stephen Hawking here on Tuesday. In all, 40 students received Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana philately merit scholarship on the occasion.
Vijayawada: A special postal cover was released in memory of noted physicist Stephen Hawking here on Tuesday. In all, 40 students received Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana philately merit scholarship on the occasion. The disbursement function was organised by the Indian Postal Department at the Collector’s camp office. ISRO scientist KV Ramana was the chief guest.
Chief Postmaster General Andhra Pradesh Circle K Balasubramanian, who released the special cover in memory of ‘Stephen Hawking’, presented it to chief guest KV Ramana. Later, the students were presented with Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana philately merit scholarship amount of Rs 6,000, along with certificates.
The scholarship disbursement function was linked through a video-conference with the main function held in New Delhi chaired by Minister of State (I/C) for Communications Manoj Sinha. He interacted with the awardees, who were present in the function. Philatelist MVS Prasad was felicitated during the programme.
