Guntur: BJP MLC Somu Veerraju said though Central government had released Rs 500 crore for underground drainage works in Guntur city, the state government is unable to complete the project within the stipulated three years.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Veerraju expressed his ire at the TDP leaders for indulging in false propaganda against BJP in social media.

He asked the state government which failed to take up underground drainage works in Guntur as to how it would execute Polavaram project works at a cost of Rs 52,000 crore and complete it by end of 2018.

Stating that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had warned that he would send those who agitate for Special Category Status (SCS) to jail in the past, he questioned how he himself is now demanding the same.

He said there has been no discussion on state capital construction so far and the state government had not finalised capital designs also. He felt that it is the responsibility of Naidu to reply to questions raised by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and added that instead of it, the Chief Minister termed them as “BJP script”.

He expressed serious concern over police taking no action against those who burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state. He also said BJP leaders would tender their resignations to nominated posts in the state soon.

Veerraju questioned as to why Naidu had not taken up Polavaram project during his nine-year rule. “He claims he had played a key role at the Centre in the past. Then why did not make an effort to get railway zone to AP?”, he said. The MLC also accused the Chief Minister of failing to control sand mafia in the state.
