Amaravati: Cautioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to take everything for granted in politics, Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said it would be very difficult for anyone to sustain public confidence for a long time. “Once the Congress won 404 seats across the country when Rajiv Gandhi became Prime Minister.

At that time, the BJP got only two seats. Within the next five years, it was proved that Rajiv Gandhi failed to sustain public confidence. Like that BJP got absolute majority in the Lower House of Parliament in 2014 general elections. It is not that easy to sustain that majority again in 2019. It is very difficult to enjoy the public confidence by Narendra Modi, he said while interacting with the party MPs on the developments in New Delhi and Parliament over a teleconference on Thursday.

Naidu made serious comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first time after TDP quit NDA alliance. He repeated allegation that all the three parties, BJP, YSRCP and Jana Sena, were blaming TDP with the sole intention of defaming it.

“The people are intelligent and they are well aware of the developments. They will give a fitting lesson to these three parties at an appropriate time. We do not have rivalry with the any political party, but we are demanding justice to AP. We are requesting all parties to support us to ensure justice.

This is the time for MPs to mount pressure. If Parliament adjourned sine die, then we will go to public,” he told the party MPs in the teleconference. Referring to the protest on National Highways in the state, Naidu cautioned that this is final examinations time for SSC students and hence they should not be subjected to troubles.

Naidu said that there was a confusion among people as to why TDP is demanding Special Category Status again. “We need to give clarity to them on the issue. The Central government informed us that they would not give SCS to any state in the country and suggested special package.

Hence, we accepted it. But now, the Centre has not kept its word. It did not release money to state as promised. At the same time the Central government released funds to the SCS States under 90:10 ratio, apart from extending all financial support, tax incentives to them.

They cheated us. After going through these developments, we are demanding Central government to provide the same benefits to our state too. The people are also aware of these developments and hence they are supporting TDP,” he said.

He said while YSRCP and Jana Sena were only talking about SCS leaving the 19 promises made in AP Reorganisation Act. In contrast, TDP was fighting against the Central government for the fulfilment of all the promises along with the SCS, he added.
