World Tuberculosis Day was observed here on Saturday by the office of the District Medical and Health. Participating in the observance of the day, Additional Joint Collector Subba Raju stated that the health and para-medical workers should create awareness on the disease that it is curable when detected in the preliminary stage.

Participating in the observance of the day, Additional Joint Collector Subba Raju stated that the health and para-medical workers should create awareness on the disease that it is curable when detected in the preliminary stage.

He said that the government is crediting Rs 500 in the accounts of the registered TB patients in the government hospital every month to help the patient take nutrient diet. District Deputy Medical and Health Officer Dr Nagaraju stated that TB is a major disease which is bothering the country.

The disease spreads through coughing and sneezing and hence steps should be taken to prevent the exposure healthy ones to the patients. The government is supplying free medicines to TB patients through Asha workers. He advised private doctors treating the TB patients to apprise the government medical officers on the number of TB patients
visiting their clinics.
