Free training for college faculty
In a laudable gesture, the state-run Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has embarked on a training programme on ‘cloud computing’, the latest information technology paradigm for the students of computer science to enhance their employability in the burgeoning IT sector.
Tirupati: In a laudable gesture, the state-run Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has embarked on a training programme on ‘cloud computing’, the latest information technology paradigm for the students of computer science to enhance their employability in the burgeoning IT sector.

APSSDC has tied up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for training the faculty members of the colleges offering computer science both at graduate and post graduate level in ‘cloud computing’. This was to enable the faculty members to train the students in their colleges in ‘cloud computing’. The training for the faculty members of the colleges offering computer science in Chittoor district commenced in the state with a six-day workshop in Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) here.
APSSDC principal consultant N Sailaja, who formally inaugurated the workshop in SVU on last Monday said the training programme started on an auspicious note at the foot of Tirumala Hills, the abode of Lord Balaji, will be followed by such workshops for training the faculty members in all the 450 colleges offering computer science courses in the 13 districts across the state.
The workshop concluded on Saturday and certificates were issued to the faculty members from 30 colleges in Chittoor district, who successfully completed the training in the valedictory programme attended by SVU Rector M Bhaskar. Speaking to The Hans India, APSSDC IT wing senior official Rajendra Prasad said that keeping in view the huge demand for ‘cloud computing’, the APSSDC taken up the training programme to increase the employability of the computer science students.
Experts from Amazon Web Service (AWS) will conduct the workshop in all the districts in the state training the faculty members. In the workshop, practical training on ‘cloud computing’ will be given to the faculty members in various aspects of information technology including bigdata analytics, Internet of Things (IoT) and IT Enabled Services (ITES), he explained. A participant Veeramuthu, lecturer from BT College at Madanapalle said
that the training programme on ‘cloud computing’ is a boon to rural students particularly from the poorer strata, who have dearth of facilities to acquire the latest IT methods like ‘cloud computing’ the demand for which is rapidly increasing. The free training will ensure the poor rural students of computer science get training in ‘cloud computing’ without spending any amount to get more job opportunities,he explained.
Sai Lohitha, working as computer science lecturer in Sri Padmavathi Women University Engineering College, has appreciated the APSSDC for taking the training programme as it is timely as there is a huge demand for ‘cloud computing’ and other services like IoT which has become the order of the day. For want of these type of training, many students are unable to get good jobs in the IT sector, she explained.
APSSDC district manager R Lokanadham said that APSSDC provided the required infrastructure to the colleges covered under APSSDC skill development programme, including laptop and tab 30 each, 2 TV sets (LED), solar panels, internet connectivity, printers and power backup with a total cost of Rs 17 lakh.
He said that the 30 faculty members from various places including Kuppam, Madanapalle, Chittoor, who have successfully completed the training in the workshop, will impart training to their students on ‘cloud computing’.
