Tuberculosis can be cured with regular treatment: Mayor
City Mayor K Hemalatha said tuberculosis (TB) is curable with the advances made in the medical treatment. She flagged off a TB awareness rally at Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Saturday, on the occasion of the World Tuberculosis Day.Â
Chittoor: City Mayor K Hemalatha said tuberculosis (TB) is curable with the advances made in the medical treatment. She flagged off a TB awareness rally at Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Saturday, on the occasion of the World Tuberculosis Day.
Addressing the participants of the rally, Hemalatha stated the Central government has been implementing Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) for eradication of tuberculosis.
TB patients can become free from disease by taking regular treatment.
DMHO Dr Vijaya Gouri, DCH Dr Saralamma, District Malaria Officer Dr Srinivasulu and others were present. The Mayor stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is committed for ensuring health and wealth for one and all in the state.
“TDP government has been allocating lion share in the annual budget for medical and health. White ration card holders are given free health cards.
To combat the tuberculosis disease in a befitting manner, the government has set up 19 TB control units in the district,” she added. District TB Officer Dr Ramesh said that effective measures were initiated to cure the tuberculosis in which 4 medical colleges, 8 voluntary organisations besides 19 TB control units are taking active role. He stressed that the patients should strictly use the prescribed medicine at least for six months without any break for effective recovery from the disease.
Deputy Mayor Subramanayam, District Immunisation Officer Dr Vijayakumari, Indian Red Cross Society Secretary Ranganatham and others were present.
TB awareness rally held
Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara Medical College students and nursing students organised a rally, on the occasion of World TB day here on Saturday.
The rally was meant to create awareness among people on the preventive steps that will help them from Tuberculosis. The state government has been giving Rs 500 per month to TB patients to meet their medical expenditure and to take egg daily. They advised the patients to follow the medical advises to keep them healthy.
The students said that if the disease can be diagnosed early then the steps can be taken so that it will not spread to others and deaths can be prevented. Dr Sri Hari Rao, Dr Vasudeva Naidu, Dr Subba Rao, Dr Aruna, Dr Yugandhar, IMA members and
others have participated.
