‘Check drinking water leakages’
Municipal Commissioner J Nivas directed the municipal officials on Wednesday to arrest the leakages to the drinking water pipelines in the city immediately and prevent contamination of drinking water.
Vijayawada: Municipal Commissioner J Nivas directed the municipal officials on Wednesday to arrest the leakages to the drinking water pipelines in the city immediately and prevent contamination of drinking water.
He visited Payakapuram, RK Puram, Ajit Singh Nagar and other places and inspected the water pipelines and side drains. He noticed a big water pipeline with leakages at Payakapuram on Vijayawada-Nunna Road. He instructed the officials to immediately arrest the leakages.
He asked the officials to identify the leakages to the water pipelines and take measures to prevent it. In view of the recent deaths in Guntur due to contamination of drinking water, the VMC Commissioner is inspecting the water pipelines in different parts of the city.
He also visited G+3 houses at Ajit Singh Nagar and noticed garbage dumped in the residential areas. He asked the officials to ensure hygiene in the residential areas.
