Wild elephants wandering

Wild elephants, which were wandering from Tuesday, entered Thogaram village in Amudalavalasa mandal on  Wednesday. 

Srikakulam: Wild elephants, which were wandering from Tuesday, entered Thogaram village in Amudalavalasa mandal on Wednesday.

The wild elephants reached Thogaram from Eesarlapadu village of the same mandal. The herd of eight elephants damaged mango and cashew trees at Eesarlapadu on Tuesday night. Chief conservator of forest Rahul Pandey and district forest officer (territorial) and wildlife in-charge Chalumuri Shanthi Swaroop visited the spot.

Forest range and section officers of Palakonda are monitoring the situation round-the-clock, along with trackers. With the help of police, forest staff are dispersing locals from the locality to avoid provocation of wild tuskers. Superintendent of Police Dr CM Trivikrama Varma reviewed the situation over phone with police officers concerned.
