2 new revenue divisions to come up in VZM

Vizianagaram: As per the decision taken by the government, Vizianagaram district will get two more revenue divisions. At present, the district has 34 mandals and two revenue divisions.

Parvathipuram division has 15 mandals and Vizianagaram has 19 mandals. But now, the government has decided to bifurcate these two divisions into four and establish new divisions in Bobbili and Cheepurupalli. At present, the revenue divisional officers are overloaded with work as they are also visiting the sand ramps and quarries. Apart from that issuance of Pattadar Passbooks and caste certificates also being undertaken by RDOs. This became burden, and a farmer is reportedly waiting for two months to get his Pattadar Passbook and even the students are also waiting for more than one month to get their caste certificates. Hundreds of land related issues and files are being kept pending.

All these problems would be checked if the area of jurisdiction of RDOs is minimised for eight to nine mandals. Even they can conduct surprise checks at ration depots, control irregularities and can check black marketing.

RDO of Vizianagaram S Murali stated that decentralisation of powers will be helpful to the people and they can avail the services of RDOs much easier than the earlier.

The services will not be delayed in future, he said. Within a few days, the geographical, jurisdiction areas of the revenue divisions would be finalised.
