Waltair Division conducted a mock drill, a real-time relief and rescue operations on Thursday at Simhachalam Railway Station.

Visakhapatnam: Waltair Division conducted a mock drill, a real-time relief and rescue operations on Thursday at Simhachalam Railway Station. Under the supervision of the Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur, the safety department led by AK Moharana, Senior Divisional Safety Officer, besides other Railway Departments, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and civil administration instantaneously rose to the occasion for rescuing the passengers in the affected coaches and ultimately restoring the normalcy of the track for swift movement of traffic. ADRM K Dhanunjaya Rao and other branch officers were present in the mock drill.

It is an exercise to check preparedness of railway personnel to meet the eventualities and for rescuing the passengers with simultaneous relief operations. The exercise is replica for actual operation at the time of such incidents.

National Disaster Response Force with the latest equipment rushed to the site to create awareness among the frontline service personnel. Under the Command of Inspector, 10th NDRF Command KB Panda with 35 NDRF personnel were involved in the operation. The Railway Protection Special Force besides RPF, State Police, Civil Defense personnel joined the rescue and relief operations.

Speaking on the occasion, DRM Mukul Saran Mathur said it is a drill to check preparedness of all the departments to react in disaster and to develop communication skills as well as coordination. Such drills would continue to keep the tempo to meet any odd situations, he added.
