Speaking to The Hans India, Communist Party of India (CPI) State assistant secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao said that the meeting would discuss steps to be taken to develop the backward districts.

The meeting will finalise the dates to hold a meeting with intellectuals in Anantapur, Visakhapatnam and Ongole. They will intensify the agitation for the SCS in phases, he added.

After finalising the dates, they will hold meetings with the intellectuals in the backward districts and discuss steps to be taken to develop these districts. Later, the leaders will mount pressure on the Centre to develop the backward districts including setting up of industrial units. They hope that the entrepreneurs will set up industries if the SCS was given to the State. Without the SCS, it would be difficult to get industries to the State. The Centre is neglecting the State, he said.

“We have decided to intensify our fight for Special Category Status to AP,” the CPI leader said.

He further said, "We will chalk out our future course of action at the April 4 meeting with Pawan Kalyan and finalise the dates for meetings with intellectuals in Visakhapatnam, Anantapur and Ongole. We will continue the agitation till we achieve our goal.”

Meanwhile, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan started the process to appoint district committees with senior leaders to campaign about party programmes and to take up party activities at the grass-root level.
