According to sources, the construction of several community and individual toilets are at various stages of progress due to involvement of corruption elements.

Apart from it, the maintenance of community toilets in Chittoor city are reportedly in a deplorable condition. Many community toilets have been closed due to lack of water facility. Speaking to The Hans India, municipal engineer in civic body, Subba Rayudu admitted that there was no proper maintenance of community toilets in the city due to failure of contractors. He added stringent action against the contractors would be initiated for neglecting the terms and conditions of contract.

If they fail to correct the lapses, the Chittoor Municipal Corporation would take over the responsibility of their maintenance, he stated. Out of 2,400 individual toilets, 1,940 have been completed and the remaining would be completed soon, he declared and said wide publicity for collecting property tax has been initiated.
