Vijayawada: YSRCP State official spokesperson Kolusu Parthasarathy criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not asking his party MPs to submit resignations to build pressure on the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre to accord Special Category Status (SCS) to the State.

Addressing the media here on Friday, Parthasarathy said that the Chief Minister was in a grip of fear that if the TDP MPs tender resignations the BJP government would revoke ‘Cash-for-Vote’ case. The YSRCP leader asked if the Chief Minister’s chair was more important than the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.

He said that YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy had been fighting for SCS for the last four years without changing his stand. He said that after the YSRCP moved the no-confidence motion against the BJP government, Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders found fault with the decision of the YSRCP.

Later, when the YSRCP secured support from different sections for its motion, the TDP changed its stand, Parthasarathy said. The Chief Minister should prove his integrity by asking the TDP MPs to resign. He demanded that the Chief Minister should explain to the people of AP as to why he was keeping aside the party MPs resignation issue.

He said the Chief Minister fears that the Centre would dig out the old cases against him if he asked his MPs to submit resignation.

Referring to the comments of Pawan Kalyan that nothing would happen if the YSRCP MPs submitted resignations, he said that it was the TDP which prompted the Jana Sena chief to make such comments.

Parthasarathy claimed that only YSRCP would be able to secure Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. He said if 25 MPs from AP tendered their resignations, then the Centre would accord SCS to State.

The YSRCP leader flayed Naidu for not achieving anything during his party’s four-year alliance with the ruling BJP at the Centre.
