The Chief Minister wanted Ravi to withdraw his plans to join the Opposition party and promised a bright future to him in TDP in future. After meeting with the Chief Minister, Ravi said he was satisfied with the promise of Chief Minister and withdrew his plans to resign from TDP. Ravi was elected as MLA with PRP ticket by defeating his rival Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao in 2009. He joined the Congress party following the merger of PRP.
