Police ask resorts to shut in Gowtami Godavari

Eluru: Police and revenue officials directed the resort's management to close the resorts at Sirivaka, Sivagiri and Telladibbalu on the
banks of river Akhanda Gowthami Godavari in Polavaram mandal immediately.

It may be recalled here that four members of a family from Chattisgarh who came to Sivagiri resorts four days back drowned in river
Godavari water. Following the incident, the police and revenue officials started checking the resorts on the river embankment.

The police led by Polavaram DSP A T V Ravi Kumar reached Sivagiri resorts on Monday and closed the cottages in Sivagiri where
the Chattisgarh people lost their lives.

Polavaram police registered a case against the resort owner Durga Prasad under respective sections of IPC. DSP Ravi Kumar,
Mandal Tahsildar Ch Ravi Kumar, Polavaram SI K Srihari Rao reached the resorts at Sirivaka, Telladibbalu and Siva Giri and directed
the management of these cottages to close them immediately. However, the Sirivaka resorts management told the officials that they
had permission to run the resort.
