New Delhi: To drum up support for his struggle for the special category status and to realise the promises made in the AP State Reorganisation Act, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu kept himself busy on Tuesday, meeting leaders of all anti-BJP parties in the central hall of Parliament in New Delhi.

Naidu, who arrived in Delhi on Monday night, reached Parliament on Tuesday morning and after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the premises, touched the steps of the Parliament building in reverence to the highest legislative house in the country.

As Chandrababu Naidu touched the steps, it was difficult for those who were around not to recall Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying similar respects when he entered Parliament for the first time after winning the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.

Naidu met Veerappa Moily (Cong), Sharad Pawar (NCP), Harsimrat Kaur Badal (SAD), besides Farooq Abdullah (NC), Sudip Bandyopadhyay (TMC), D Raja (CPI), V Maitreyan (AIADMK), Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal) and Ram Gopal Yadav (Samajwadi Party), AP Jitender Reddy (TRS) and
also AIDMK members among others.

Naidu, speaking to the media-persons on the occasion, said the TDP would not have any truck with the BJP in future and that his Delhi visit had nothing to do with politics. "I am here to bring pressure on the Centre for doing justice to my state," he said, refusing comments on his possible role in the ongoing efforts to cobble up an alternative front against the BJP.

"We have snapped relations with the BJP since it was getting closer to a party which has become synonymous with corruption," Naidu said, referring to the YSRCP and said it was unfortunate that its leaders were being allowed inside the Prime Minister's Office.

Naidu wanted all regional parties to come together to raise their voice against the injustice being meted out to the states by the Centre where Opposition parties were at the helm. "My priority is not politics but securing justice to my state which had been left high and dry by the Centre," he said. He was thankful to the Left parties for supporting the agitation for the special category status in Parliament.

The Left leaders after discussing the special category status issue with Naidu said that they shared common concerns over how the Prime Minister was adopting partisan attitude towards the states ruled by Opposition parties. TMC’s Derek O Bien said they supported the TDP's agitation for special category status in Parliament.

YSRCP attacks Naidu
Meanwhile, YSRC MP V Vijayasai Reddy slammed Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh for the ills that bedeviled Andhra Pradesh and demanded a CBI inquiry into several scams, including Polavaram, Amaravati, Call Money racket, vote for note and Agrigold. Describing Naidu as "U-Turn" uncle, Vijayasai Reddy wanted to know why Naidu had taken U-turn on his stand that the special package was better and was now singing the chorus of the special category status.

He said Naidu arrived in Delhi for the 30th time but now he is struggling to get support from the Opposition parties for the special category status for the state. “Naidu’s MPs were seen in the central hall pleading with the leaders of Opposition parties to speak to their leader. If Naidu was trying to assemble a political front, it will fall like nine pins," he said.
