Vijayawada: To exert incremental pressure on the Centre for not according Special Category Status to AP, Jana Sena, CPM and CPI took out a padayatra from Benz Circle to Ramavarapupadu Ring centre here on Friday led by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and, CPI and CPM state secretaries, K Ramakrishna and P Madhu, respectively.

Before undertaking padayatra from Benz Circle, Pawan Kalyan garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Tummalapallivari Kshetriah Kalakshetram. A huge number of fans of Pawan Kalyan took part in the padayatra.

Later, Pawan Kalyan speaking to media-persons at a hotel said that the TDP should have invited the political parties for all-party meeting long ago. TDP was conducting all-party meeting for its political benefit. “The all-party meetings which Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is holding now would not be of any use to the state but for sharing tea. The Jana Sena and Left parties were not ready to extend support to Telugu Desam and BJP,” he said.

He asked the Chief Minister to reveal his strategy for securing SCS through the ministers. The government lost the faith of public as it had changed its stand several times on SCS. He also commented that the state could not get benefit though Chandrababu Naidu has 40 years of experience in politics. He said the leaders utilised their experience for furthering self -interests.

Pawan Kalyan said that the political parties failed to do justice to the people. The state bifurcation was done unscientifically, he said and pointed out that Telangana could get more assets while more debts were allocated for Andhra Pradesh. Expressing concern over the poverty in backward districts in the state, he said that they would tour in Anantapur, Prakasam and Vizianagaram districts.

CPM state secretary P Madhu said that they would intensify agitation for special status though the Centre did not allow the no-confidence motion in Parliament. The Left parties also would not attend all-party meeting, he said.

CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Delhi tour would serve no purpose. He said the CM should stop politicising the issue using publicity tactics like cycle yatra.
