Amaravati: Union Ministry for Information and Broadcasting has granted permission to launch 62 FM radio channels in 22 cities across the State, according to a communiqué from Jayashree Mukherjee, Additional secretary of the Union Ministry toDinesh Kumar, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh.

In the communiqué, Jayashree Mukherjeesaid that the unemployed youth would get job opportunities with the setting up of FM radio channels. There are already 323 FM radio channels in 86 cities throughout the country which were started in 2001, she said and added that recently auction was conducted for establishing 683 FM radio channels in 236 cities. “As part of that, it has been decided to grant permission to 62 channels in AP,” she said.

The Chief Secretary was asked to send the names of interested entrepreneurs to set up FM radio channels in Andhra Pradesh, Jayashree Mukherjee said.
