Mangalagiri: The three-day Happy Cities Summit which began here on Tuesday is expected to boost the plans of the State government to build a world-class capital Amaravati. The State government is likely to receive valuable tips from experts and delegates who came from different countries and are taking part in the summit to build one of the top 5 happy cities in the globe.

The State has already ensured incorporation of all main features of the Happy City concept in the Amaravati master plan itself, while getting it prepared it by the Singapore consortium, explained Minister for Urban Development P Narayana while speaking to The Hans India.

The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) officials invited about 80 delegates and experts from different fields from 15 countries to the summit. The composition of delegates includes Mayors of various happy and smart cities, executives, urban planners, policy makers, researchers and others, Narayana explained.

He said that as suggested by the delegates they would develop the remaining cities in the State also as happy cities along with the Amaravati. While dividing Amaravati into nine cities and 27 townships, the government ensured that each township will be spread over 1,000 acres, he informed.

Within the Amaravati capital city, there would be 108 neighborhoods on 255 acres and 432 communities spread over an extent of 62.5 acres. In each 108 neighborhood, the government will construct big commercial centres, schools, colleges, hospitals and all other social infrastructure for day to day affairs. At the same time, each of the 432 communities would be provided with social infrastructure facilities like schools, colleges and others.

The road network is being developed on a principle of 5-10-15 minutes, the Minister informed. He explained further that all emergency services in these nine cities could be reached within five minutes. Residents could reach any public place like open parks, playgrounds, green and blue areas within 10 minutes, and could reach his workplace by walk or by bicycle within 15 minutes.
All these arrangements are expected to serve a population of about 35 lakh.
