Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu stressed the need for utilisation of solar power in the country. He said that over 120 countries across the globe have been utilising the solar power at maximum level, but the India is still depending on the thermal, oil and gas based power generation. 

Visakhapatnam: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu stressed the need for utilisation of solar power in the country. He said that over 120 countries across the globe have been utilising the solar power at maximum level, but the India is still depending on the thermal, oil and gas based power generation.

He called upon the youth to think big for optimum utilisation of solar power.The Vice President visited the Andhra University and interacted with the students of Petroleum University on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiahnaidu said that India is a hub of Education and students from foreign countries landing here for various education programmes and there is a change in the system.

The youth should develop with innovative ideas and multiple skills to bring old charisma to the country.The Vice-President appealed to the students to think positively for better prospects. Interacting with the students, he opined that rural development would only possible by creating basic infrastructure, including roads, drinking water and power supply.

Though the technology and aggressive developments are taking place, still farmer is the backbone of the country and the government should implement welfare programmes for their development. In education sector, India should reach the number one place.

On the occasion, the Vice-President released the newsletter of the Indian Petroleum and Sakthi organisation. He also released some books authored by engineering college professors. Earlier, director of IIPE VSRK Prasad explained the progress of the university.

Later, the Vice-President visited Andhra University Women’s Engineering College and inaugurated four research laboratories related to civil, mechanical and electrical departments established at a cost of Rs 2 crore. Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University G Nageswara Rao, MP K Haribabu, Ministers S Ranga Rao, In-Charge Collector G Srujana and VIPs were present.
