Spurious oil production unit raided

Adoni (Kurnool): The Adoni cops and municipal staff conducted a joint operation and raided a spurious oil manufacturing unit on Budekal Street in Adoni on Friday night. The staff seized huge quantity of spurious oil that is being manufactured with the animal remains and fat.

According to the information, one Abdul Maina Patel, a resident of Budekal Street in Adoni is known to be carrying out a trading business of animal skins. Besides skin trading business, he is also known to be manufacturing spurious oil from the remains and fat of dead animals. After manufacturing the spurious oil, he used to supply the oil to various hotels in Hyderabad and other parts of the country. The locals, who could not bear the foul smell emanating out of the manufacturing unit, brought to the notice of the police as well as civic staff, said the Three Town police.

With the information, the police and the civic department staff conducted a joint raid at the said manufacturing unit and detected 150 oil tins that are kept ready for transportation to Hyderabad. The police also said that the trader is carrying out the oil manufacturing in an illegal manner. “We have seized the entire quantity and intimated to the Food Safety Control department officials. We have collected the oil samples and that would be sent for lab testing. Based on the result, we would initiate further action,’’ said the Circle Inspector Ch Chandrasekhar.
