Eluru: The vigilance and enforcement officials conducted a raid on rice mill at Jangareddigudem town on Friday and found irregularities in rice meant for supply of public distribution system (PDS) in the mill.

The officials led by Vigilance DSP M Rajani conducted the raid on Sri Vishnupriya Rice Mill and seized six quintals of rice that were packed in bags from an auto in the mill. During their checks, they found variation in records to the tune of 3,800 quintals of custom milled rice (CMR) in the mill.

It was also found that the miller was recycling PDS rice in the mill. The CMR was not up to the government estimates, the officials said. The officials said the government had fixed Rs 1,200 per quintal for CMR rice and the deficit in CMR rice value is put at Rs 45.60 lakh.

The DSP said a case was registered against miller Talladi Sattipandu and seized an auto used for transporting the rice. Vigilance CI GVV Nageswara Rao, AO Srinivasa Kumar and other officials participated in the raids.
