Amaravati: Criticising that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a threat to the Indian democracy, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu alleged that the Central Government was trying to dilute the powers of States in the federal system. In a press release on Saturday, Yanamala said that the Prime Minister has no democratic leadership qualities and has been trying to weaken the states in the name of cooperative federalism.
1. Says the BJP-led NDA govt is trying to dilute the powers of the States
2. Says all States should come forward to fight against the Centre’s feudalistic approach
“The Centre was trying to weaken states through the 15th Finance Commission. “There is no truth in the claim of the Centre that states will not lose with the 15th Finance Commission. Though the finance commission was constituted as per Constitution rules, the Centre has taken the powers of the commission into its hands,’’ he alleged. He said that a problem was not confined to Andhra Pradesh but to all other states. “All states should come forward in protest against the Centre’s feudalistic approach towards the states.” There was exigency to oppose the autocratic attitude of Prime Minister Modi and historic need to protect the values of Constitution, he added.
